Where does indifference come from? Can people close to each other be indifferent? VP Astafiev answers this question in his story "Lyudochka". The main character comes to the city for a better life.

Introduction

Indifference is one of the greatest vices of humanity. This topic worries writers for a long time, because it is from the silent indifference of people that terrible things are done.

Fragment of work for review

People close to Lyudochka contributed to the girl's despair by pushing her to commit suicide. Thus, the problem of indifference of relatives to each other leads to unconscious ruthlessness, but indifference often goes beyond the boundaries of the family. In a materialistic world, indifference leads to the fact that a person ceases to be a person. In the story of IA Bunin "The Lord from San Francisco" the main character is presented as a man without a soul and inner peace. He has no name, which makes him an ordinary person, no different from others. The world in this story is completely indifferent to everything. The people in it resemble the "living dead". The gentlemen on the upper decks of the steamer are absolutely indifferent to those who work on the lower deck. These people are not served, no one thinks about them. The lower strata of society should only please the gentlemen. Love in this world is also indifferent. This is a dummy, because "real feelings" are shown by the actors for the money hired by the owner of the ship. The main character himself is also indifferent to everything. The purpose of his life is money and status. The culmination of this work is the death of the hero.

Indifference is the highest cruelty.

Indifference is a terrible calamity of our time. People increasingly do not pay attention to other people's problems. They do not show any initiative to come to the rescue. This behavior is becoming the norm. But for a person, indifference on the part of the people around him is sometimes worse than any bad deeds on their part. Wilson wrote that indifference is the highest cruelty.

I completely agree with him, because I believe that indifference is worse than hatred and anger. Because of the indifference of the spouses, families break up. Indifference is worse than cruelty, because there is no warmth in the soul, and it dies.

Confirmation of these words can be found in many famous literary works. As an example, I will cite the story of Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol "The Overcoat". The writer tells about the titular adviser Bashmachkin, who is rewriting papers. To buy an overcoat, Akaki Akakievich saves on everything. But after the purchase, his overcoat is stolen. To whom he only did not turn for help, but no one helps to find an overcoat. Bashmachkin is catching a cold, no one helps him in any way.

He subsequently dies. Thus, the indifference of the people around him brought the person to death. After all, if they helped him find his greatcoat, he would not get sick, and therefore would not die.

You can also cite the literary work of Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky "Crime and Punishment". This novel contrasts the gloomy and gray St. Petersburg with its indifferent society and Sonya with Raskolnikov. Raskolnikov, during his first visit to the Marmeladovs, cannot remain indifferent to how they live, so he leaves them money. Dunya is going to marry Luzhin in order to help his brother pay tuition fees. But Raskolnikov protects her from such a life. Luzhin is absolutely indifferent to everyone and thinks only about money and his career. Amalia Ivanovna Marmeladov is not at all sorry, and after the death of Semyon Marmeladov she kicks Katerina Ivanovna and her children out of the apartment. Sonya, having learned that Raskolnikov killed the old woman, tries to morally support him and goes with him to hard labor. Sonya and Raskolnikov, despite the indifferent society around them, did not become as indifferent. If people were more responsive, then many of the tragedies shown in the novel could have been avoided.

Thus, I have confirmed Wilson's words that indifference is the highest cruelty. Indifference from the people around you can bring a person to death. The evil is obvious, and people are trying to fight it. Indifference is more secretive and not punishable, but sometimes the consequences are much more dire. People need to be responsive so that more good deeds can be done in the world.

Gerasim Olga Ivanovna was not just a woman with a terrible character, she was a woman with an impossible character. The husband left, the son was taken by the second Chechen woman, and it seemed to her that the whole world was to blame for this. She worked as a chief accountant in housing and communal services. She was hated not only by all the grandmothers of the region, who just came in to find out, “Tell me, how do you charge it like that?”, But also by all colleagues to whom she distributed salaries according to some of her own laws, unknown to anyone. The management constantly complained about her. The management did not want to sit down seriously and for a long time, because Olga Ivanovna directly recommended a couple of times not to pay attention to the barkers, she does not pay attention to many things from the life of the local housing office. - Olga Ivanovna, you can clarify why I was charged for electricity for general access needs twice as much as last month? - You will die soon, what's the difference. - I will complain! - Please, homeless people usually have little faith. - Why bums? - People without water and light very quickly become people of the world. - Are you threatening me? - Close your mouth and go enjoy the warm battery. Hug her and slowly welcome old age! Olga Ivanovna went to work because it is even worse at home. It was not her world, he betrayed her. Work, TV, TV, work. So days, months, years were consumed. *** Somehow the management of the housing office decided to pour fresh blood into the collective. Take Tajik street cleaners. Everyone understood everything. The basic law of economics in action - reduce costs, increase income. Olga Ivanovna, who is also a personnel officer, employed these nice guys. The last one remained. Two people knocked on her office and timidly froze on the threshold. A man of about fifty with kind eyes, like a water from a Soviet cartoon, and a young guy. - What are you standing in the doorway? Did you come here as a whole camp? - Olga Ivanovna began the conversation in her usual manner. - This is my cousin uncle. He doesn't like to speak, maybe he doesn't know the language. I will help him fill out the documents - said the guy who was next to him. A strange Tajik couple sat down at the table. The man looked into her eyes and smiled even more. Olga Ivanovna was a little embarrassed and said: - Tell your uncle not to look at me like that. Your eyes will burn out, Dumb! - He does not speak, but he hears and understands everything. Maybe he liked you, ”the young man replied. - Listen, a puppy from the market of dried apricots and brooms, I asked your opinion? Shut up and fill out the paperwork! Olga Ivanovna exploded. The guy quickly took the sheets of paper and began to fill out. The man smiled, he had a strange smile, as if he was happy and surprised at the same time. Then he pulled out a small plastic bag from his inner pocket and put it on the table in front of Olga Ivanovna. The package contained dried fruits. - So, both went out of here! - Olga Ivanovna screamed desperately. - Out of respect for you, my uncle gave it to you. I say, he liked you, - the guy made excuses. - Wooon! Fill in the corridor! Come in large numbers! When Olga Ivanovna was left alone in the office, she took a mirror, straightened her hair, and painted her lips with pink lipstick with mother-of-pearl. After admiring the result, she smiled to herself, unfolded the package and set to work on dried apricots and figs. *** Olga Ivanova called the mysterious Tajik Gerasim. When she saw him, he always smiled and nodded respectfully, and during the working day, small gifts mysteriously appeared on her table: now a beautiful oriental-style saucer, now nuts, and once a plate of hot pilaf. As it turned out - very tasty. Olga Ivanovna was changed. From gray shapeless dresses, she changed into bright and interesting ones. For the first time in many years, she smiled at Gerasim's nod. Her work colleagues did not share her joy. - Olga Ivanova, something prettier, kinder, but is it not love? - trolled a neighbor in the office. - Someone has a tongue like a pomelo, I look. I just like oriental cuisine. - And oriental people, apparently. Olyushka, understand, this is not an option. He is, of course, a stately man, hard-working, but people like him, there in the village, have a family for a hundred people and a loving wife who once a week expects money transfers from her earner. And to make these translations more, he feeds you, makes eyes. I know this brother, they are cunning ... - Vera, shut up! - with these words Olga Ivanovna ran out of the office. For the first time in years, angry tears burned through my cheeks. The next day Olga Ivanovna came to work in a tracksuit. She looked like a fury: she screamed at everyone who dared to look in her direction, not to mention those who were not lucky enough to contact her on business. When Gerasim appeared with a bouquet of field daisies, which "accidentally" ended up on her table, she defiantly took the flowers, went out onto the porch of the housing office, poured them with a fire for barbecue and set them on fire. *** Three days later, a drunk plumber Gavrilov broke into Olga Ivanovna's office. They said that a long time ago they had something. And now the relationship has moved to a new level: - Olga, the pipes are burning, give me a thousand! - Gavrilov, fuck you! I'm not giving it! - Olya, I will blow your office to the fucks, get the fucking piece of paper out of the safe! - Gavrilov, go sleep it off. This is not my money. - You forgot, apparently? Remind me? - he grabbed Olga Ivanovna by the shoulder and swung his other hand for a blow. A shout rose in the office. Olga Ivanovna closed her eyes. Suddenly, someone entered the office and pushed Gavrilov away. Gerasim stood next to Gavrilov and smiled with his usual smile. Gavrilov boiled with anger: - You cho, ohrenel, chock .......! You were not mistaken with the country ?! - Gavrilov struck Gerasim in the body with lightning speed. Gerasim bent over, straightened up and smiled again. This went on several times. Gerasim was bleeding from his broken lip, but he continued to smile. - Ol, yes he is fucking, why is he laughing? Listen, black-ass, I'll kill you! Olga Ivanovna blushed and rushed at Gavrilov. She screamed, kicked, kicked. Gavrilov pushed her away and said loudly: - Yes, you both went off the rails on the campaign, well, you are in fig. They will put more, - Gavrilov flew out of the office. Olga Ivanovna rushed to Gerasim. She took out a handkerchief, moistened it with mineral water on the table and wiped the blood from his face. She stroked her hair with one hand and said something soothing. He smiled just as blissfully ... *** For two weeks Olga Ivanova did not see Gerasim. Someone said that he returned to his home. Someone - that changed jobs. Olga could not find a place for herself. Once returning from lunch, she found a plate of dried apricots on her table. She immediately ran out into the street, Gerasim was sitting on a bench in a light suit, with a bouquet of daisies and, of course, a smile. She sat down close to him and hugged him. - Gerasim, how I missed you! “My real name is Bacha,” he said unexpectedly. - So you can speak !? Why then was he silent? “Why interrupt such a beautiful woman? I like listening to you. - Where have you been? - I was at home, visiting my wife and daughter. Olga Ivanova abruptly pulled back. “Five years ago, a drunk bus driver took them away from me. From that moment on, I fell silent. In order not to go crazy, my nephews brought here. And then I met you. I was at the grave and asked permission ... - Well, what did they say to you? - They said that it’s better to feed you, you’re so thin ... They hugged and sat for so long that the author was already tired of watching them and he went to work to sell PVC. © Alexander Bessonov

Indifference is the highest cruelty.
M. Wilson
The worst thing in our world is indifference, indifference and cruelty. Sometimes you look around and involuntarily ask yourself: "Where is this world heading?" Who will answer me this question? Why is there so much cruelty and indifference in our world? Visiting various sites, reading people's comments, I am more and more surprised and horrified at how quickly our society is degrading.
A. Chekhov said: "Indifference is a paralysis of the soul, premature death." People are indifferent to what is happening around them, they just laugh, mock people who have any problems. Take, for example, people who are seriously ill, tell me how you can laugh and mock at them? I myself have witnessed one such case when adolescents, and not children, who seem to be adults, doing everything consciously and, as they say, being responsible for their actions, mocked a guy with cerebral palsy in all possible ways. On any, on my part, attempts to explain to them that this should not be done, they did not pay attention. Tell me, why are there so many heartless and cruel people in the world? How are their parents brought up so that instead of understanding, compassionate people, such scumbags grow up, excuse the expression?
These teenagers made him chase after them, and he, not realizing that they were just mocking him, tried to catch up with them, which naturally he could not. He believed that they were playing with him, trusted them, and they ... without a drop of compassion, continued their mocking games. Particularly touched me and engraved in my memory, the moment when this boy, child (yes, he really was a child, as he believed people, not a bit doubting the purity and sincerity of their actions), during lunch, taking his portion , went to the table, and at that moment another teenager, older than him, passing by, pushed him, touched him so that this guy dropped his portion from his hands to the floor, for which, of course, the watching nurses began to shout at him. They called him awkward, said that his arms were growing out of the wrong place, everyone laughed at him. You should have seen his face at that moment, there was so much pain, resentment, despair in his eyes that it was impossible to remain indifferent to it. He cried !!! It was at this moment that it was clear that he could no longer restrain himself, he no longer laughed and did not smile, as at the moment when he thought that teenagers were just playing with him, and I don’t think that even at that moment he understood. who really was to blame for the fact that he dropped the plate. I think he only blamed himself for what happened.
People, come to your senses! What are you doing? Where it leads? After all, this is the natural degradation of society, don't you understand this? Try to put yourself in the shoes of these people, and what would happen if you were so mocked or laughed at? I don’t think that would be good for you. They are the same people, but, unfortunately, few people will really be imbued with my appeal and will share my grievance that there are really a lot of cruel, indifferent people in our world and, unfortunately, their number is increasing day by day.
